Working Out Your Aggressions

Monday March 6, 2006
Do you ever have one of those days? One of those days when you try to leave for work, but you can't find your keys? Then you find your keys and you can't find your briefcase? Then you get halfway to work only to realize you forgot something so crucial, you have to go back home to get it? Then you get to work and realize it's a holiday and none of the aggravation you just experienced was even necessary?

Those kinds of days can be maddening and, once you're thrown off your game, it seems like you're off for the rest of the day. Well, I'm having one of those days and my solution (as if you couldn't guess) is exercise. Too often, we only think of exercise as a solution to our weight problems...but moving your body can also be a great way to work off a little stress. Here's my plan to work off a little too much stress:

Interval Workout. Interval training is great for stress reduction. During the high intensity segments, you'll get your heart rate soaring so high you can just feel the stress dissipate. The best part is that you only work hard for a short period of time, so the recovery segments allow you to catch your breath.
Strength Training for Busy People. Though I usually like to keep my cardio and strength separate, there are some days I have more energy--and that's what extra stress is...energy you can use to get things done. Today, I'll be doing this short, but intense, strength workout. Hey, use it or lose it.
Relaxing Stretch on the Ball. Ahhh, now comes the pay off. After all that intense exercise, the best part is giving my body time to ease back into real life, stress free.

Remember, there are tons of workouts to choose from in my Workout Center, so pick your poison and use your body to get rid of all that Monday stress. Oh, and exercise isn't your only option...sign up for Elizabeth Scott's new e-course, Living a Low-Stress Lifestyle...now pardon me while I go sign up.
