Get Active America!

Friday May 12, 2006
You may have heard once or twice that America has a little weight problem. The experts working in the fitness industry do their best to tackle this problem, but it ain't easy. The good news is that the fitness industry is all over our weight issues and is offering an annual event created by the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) called Get Active America! In this initiative, health clubs all over the country will open their doors for free to give you a chance to exercise, talk to professionals and get some great advice about losing weight and getting fit.

If you're interested, here are some dates to mark on your calendar:

  • May 15-18, participating clubs will host 'Bring a Friend' days where you can, duh, bring a guest free of charge.
  • May 19-21 - Clubs will host an 'Open House' where anyone is welcome.
Guests will get to use the equipment, take classes and get free access to personal trainers. This is such a great initiative and your chance to get a loved one into fitness or to try it out for yourself. To find a participating club in your area, visit the IHRSA - Get Active America! website.
