New FAQ: I just started exercising...why am I gaining weight?

Wednesday May 31, 2006
Picture it: you started an exercise program. You're going to the gym every day, you've figured out how to use that weird contraption in the corner, you haven't had french fries in two weeks...you're on a roll! You step on the scale, sure you'll see a number that will reflect all that hard work and...what?! The scale went up? How could you be gaining weight after doing all that exercise?

Before you panic and give up on exercise altogether, take some time to figure out if you're really gaining fat (it could be muscle!) or if you need to change something about your diet and/or exercise program. My new FAQ about gaining weight after exercise will help you figure out where you're going wrong.

Have you ever thought that the toxins in our body may prevent weight loss?

(2) A Man of Action says:

Beginning Weight: 180 lbs. 5′10″
After 8 months Exercising + Sport Conditioning: 180lbs.

A.M. Workout MWF Lift Weights 1 hr. 70 Calories expended (sweat included)
Noon Sport Workout 1 Hr. T & Th – 100 calories expended (?) (sweat included)

Reason I think 4 me are too many calories are:
After A.M. Workout I ingest 160 caloires Protein Drink

T & Th. No Protein Drink

I sit at a desk from 8 – 5, sitting requires 9 calories per hour (according to some “trusted” calorie counter website) or 72 calories for the work day.

Lunch: Salad + Olive Oil + Balsimic Vinegar 140 Calories.

Body is always tired, go home eat ( salmon/chicken/2 vegetables) 1200 Calories.

Sit in front of TV 5 hours or more or less (5 calories per hour) 25 Calories.

Sleep.

My daily Calorie Requirements NOT 2000 but 100 + 72 + 25 = 197

My daily Calorie Intake is: 160 + 140 + 1200 = 1500.

Weight has not inceased or decreased but held steady at 180 lbs.

Dear Man of Action: – It sounds like your food intake is not enough. Also evaluate your cardiovascular program (Frequency, Intensity, Time and Type).
