Share Your Ideas for a Quiet Workout Solution

Wednesday September 6, 2006
One forum member recently posted the following dilemma: "I currently live in a 2nd story condo, and wish to do some cardio very early in the mornings to kick-start my day before I get ready for work. However, I do not want to disturb my neighbors underneath by doing a lot of bouncing (even low impact aerobic moves can be loud). Can anyone suggest a good cardio exercise that can be done "quietly" and will not disturb my downstairs neighbors? I don't care for bicycles or rowing machines, but I'm willing to buy a treadmill or elliptical, if they are quiet in terms of floor movement and machine noise."

Wow, is this person a nice neighbor or what? I've had numerous neighbors over the years who've done everything from move furniture n the middle of the night to having the whole soccer team over for all night parties. Still, is there a solution to this dilemma? Come join the discussion and tell us what you think.

A weighted hula-hoop is fun and quiet. They come in different weights and sizes. They don’t take up much room either, just lean it against a wall. I love mine.

Yoga and pilates. It’s stretching, so you don’t make much noise. It’s a little diffucult in the beginning, but hang in there because it gets easier. You also get fast results.
