The first time I ever did yoga, I remember thinking - 'This is for the birds!' It seemed soooo slow...no sweating, no burning, no heaving...just what was the point of these excruciatingly slow exercises? I kept doing it and I actually started to enjoy it once I allowed myself to relax and do something gentle for a change. The very things I hated at first became the things I appreciated most - having a gentle, slow activity that was more about feeling good than pushing myself to the limit.
The point is, yoga is the perfect way to balance out your routine, especially if your workouts are heavy on the cardio and strength, light on the flexibility and relaxation. A well-rounded program touches on all different areas of fitness - pushing hard as well as pulling back. If you haven't tried yoga, check out some of the easy workouts below as well as a few other resources to help you get started:

I am 16 years old and I play football. I have found that yoga keeps me healthy and injury free! The yoga that I do is called Bikram Yoga and although relaxing it is hard. The room is heated to 110 degrees and is an hour and a half. I really enjoy it.
Yoga can be very challenging and make one sweat. I am always very sore after a session. One can spend a lifetime and still never master Yoga. I enjoy it very much as it encompasses strength, flexibility, stability, and peace of mind. My arms are scuplted since starting Ashtanga one year ago. It allows for a deep focus. I love it!
How about yoga for couch potatoes. I am very over weight. I am approaching 60 yr. old. Looking for a job Need to build up my endurance but hooked on peanut butter cups when life gives me a smack in the head. Repaired knee still has me feeling delicate. Have no exercise buddy. Need help!
Linda-I would recommend a yoga DVD titled AM/PM Yoga. The AM yoga is led by Rodney Yee, and it is an excellent intro to yoga. I started it a year ago and have never looked back. It takes 20 mins and is very gentle. It will get you hooked! Good luck!
