Exercise of the Week - Bridge on the Ball

Tuesday December 12, 2006
The bridge is one of those exercises that feels like it isn't doing much. But, the truth is, the bridge is an excellent move for strengthening and improving stability in the core. It also strengthens the glutes and, because your upper body and arms have to help stabilize you, it even works the muscles of the upper back, shoulders and arms. At the top of the movement, you get some great lower back strengthening as well. By adding a ball, you can add intensity to the movement and involve the hamstrings a bit more. Add this move to your usual ab workout or do it on it's own to strengthen and stretch the lower back.

Do it right: Lie on your back and bend your knees, placing your feet on the ball. Contract your abs and slowly roll your spine off the floor while pressing the feet into the ball. Bring your hips up as high a you can, hold for a moment and then roll back down, making continuous contact with each part of the spine. Repeat for 8-10 reps.

I can vouch for this excercise and it’s effectiveness! It’s all about that ball…it makes excercise more interesting and effective. And you’ll begin to see the inches begin to fall off throughout your whole body in as little a 2 weeks time.

I have been doing this exercise for over 90 days now. I can say it has changed my life, my amount of pain in ribs, lower abdomen and lower back. I am much stronger in my core muscles than I have ever been before. This is the most important exercise in my rocovery. I had unexplainable pain for years. This exercise helped me cure the pain no doctor could find a cause for-for 9 years no doctor knew what was wrong. Why they never checked my muscles I do not know. What I can say is this single exercise is the most important every single day of my life.
I do 100 bridges on a ball every morning.
This is the most impactful change I have ever made for my own health.
Seriously-well worth the time to do everyday.
I now have tummy muscles!
