I consider my workouts “my time” and I don’t want to be caugt up in any conversations except for the one in my head.
I like to work out alone. Early mornings(5am). I do a spinning class at 6am twice a week. Like to talk to other people sometimes.
My favorite form of exercise is to play games like squash and badminton, so obviously it’s more social. I also like to walk a lot and occasionally walk with others but it really slows me down from the pace I go when it’s just me (and the dog!) I don’t like gyms but will go when the weather is too bad to walk and would rather be left alone.
I enjoy exercising with a friend, for I seem to laugh more and the time seem to pass quickly
After working out on my own for years, I have recently hired a personal trainer or rather a TEAM of them at Elite Fitness Training, Bellevue, WA.
As a muscle therapist, I highly regard this group of professionals!
I like to workout alone and sometimes with a partner. (POSITIVE ALONE)It is hard to find time to do much these days so when I find the time to train I just do it and get it done alone. (POSITIVE WITH FRIEND) Sometimes training with a friend can give that extra boost especially on those days doing squats or deads. It’s nice to have someone there to get you out of the hole when your buried. Also if you both can keep focused and not have it turn into a social event. (NEGATIVE ALONE) Training alone can get you into a rut if your not careful. So training with someone else will make me do exercises or use differant tecniques that I would not ordanarally do. (NEGATIVE WITH A FRIEND) If I oblagate myself to a specific time to train with someone and they do not show on time it throws me off.
Even though I work out at the Y, I’m still by myself. I like reading and listening to music while I exercise and I enjoy being in my own bubble during what I consider “my time.” No one tells me to get up at 5:30 to exercise–I motivate myself–so I really guard my private time when I’m exercising.
I enjoy working out alone with music playing loudly. This is my time of the day, and I spend it selfishly. I don’t even like to converse with others, I’d rather jam out and live in my own reality for an hour a day! Try it…
i like to excersize with friends and family
I love to exercise alone and with someone also. I have been a distance runner for years and found my own personal commitment to doing this often something most of my friends could not make an equal commitment plus I ran when I could each day, not always the same time. Now I walk long distances and it is basically the same way. I like my own company but also don’t mind the company of others, it is just hard to find someone who wants to walk 9 miles each day or who can walk that distance.
I prefer to exercise with others as it helps to motivate me.
I like to encourage myself and push myself extra hard without having a whiner exercise partner. Usually they end up quiting because I exert myself!
dependson the work out. I dont like to weight train with any one but a trainer as most people including my friend don’t even know what h.i.t. is and do not have the resolve to go beyond the threshold of a muscles capacity into the complete falure zone. As for cycling I love to have others join in its safer on the steats and in the mountains in group so we keep an eye on one another and have comrodery. Then there is the relm of competitive team sports i.e. ice hockey can’t play alone and the group is fun. quite the mixed bag, i’m a very competitive person so I like to beat others at the sport of the moment, as well as to be challenged by those who have attianed a higher level of skill. then there is rec. sports witch I allways like to have others to paticipate with both friends and strangers its a great way to connect with your fellow man or woman. in all situations I just like to have a great time doing it. get up get out and most of all enjoy it with a huge smile on your face it will brighten your day and everyone who sees your smile will get a lift.
When someone is around it really distracts me. I have C.O.P.D. and I walk. I try to hit 3000 paces (which is really good for me ot accomplish) I count my paces and whenever someone is around I don’t even try. What about some exercises to strengthen the upper body especially geared to people with asthma and C.O.P.D. Thanx!
I am a social person, the group is good for me. I also like to jam alone on the machines.
Ya
I would much rather exercise alone. That way I don’t have to have conversation unless I choose to. I love having people around but I hate to have someone else time limiting my work-out
I prefer to workout alone. I do my workouts at home usually with DVDs. There are occasions where my husband and I will workout together (P90X). It is a 3 month program. It always starts out well but as we near the middle our competitive nature kicks in. And we also start telling one another How we should be doing a certain move. Regardless, it is fun and motivating but when it is over I am very happy to go back to my solitary workouts.
i always exercise alone! 35 years ago when i was in middle school during pe class i, was builled and mobbed so badly that, i ran away from home, became a junkie, tried to commit sucide, started burning, cutting and, hitting on myself (self harm) etc. three years ago i walk into a gym and had a panic attack and other ptsd reactions. i know if my parents and the school adminstration had step in and protected me i, would not be in this state today but, they all just brushed me off. i’ve been in psychotherapy and support groups since that time and, all the therpists have said i will get better and better over time but, i’ll never be 100% and, that has proven true. i would love to work out with others! i fear though i never will never get mentally healthy enough to ever be able too.
I need a silent room with no distractions so that I can concentrate on the task at hand, working out hard. I prefer to exercise alone and at home. However, group runs are awesome and help to motivate me.
P90X~ROCKS!!!!
