We already know that men and women are from different planets. What else would explain why my husband experiences separation anxiety anytime he can't find the remote control? But one of the most frustration differences involves weight loss. It seems like a man can do a few pushups, run around the block, eat a whole pizza and still end up losing weight. Meanwhile, us women are meticulously counting every calorie as it goes into our mouths, exercising like fiends and watching the scale move at a glacial pace.
If that's your experience, you're not crazy. It's true that men lose weight faster than women and, believe it or not, there are some good reasons for this phenomenon. Researchers are spending more time looking at these differences and trying to figure out why we respond differently to exercise. Someday, we may even be able to tailor exercise programs for the sexes that more efficiently address these differences. You can learn more in my new FAQ about men, women and weight loss.

In my case, that isn’t exactly true. My husband and I had a challenge of sorts where we both tried to lose five pounds within 2-3 months. I gained two and he gained four. I tried it again on my own and I did lose the weight.
He exercises all the time but he has a hard time watching what he eats. I exercise less but then him, but I try to choose healthier options.
I’m an exerciser, husband’s a dieter, I thinks it’s easier to commit to doing something instead of to refrain from doing something. I found that any time I tried to diet I’d become obsessed with food, even craving things like pastries that I don’t normally like. Positive habits like exercise, drinking water, and eating healthy food are easier to stick to. The easiest diet in the world is Gold’s Gym — just eat a small apple before consuming anything else whenever you get the urge to eat. It works really well.
I find this article to be completely true. I’m the one in the relationship who is eating healthy and exercising weekly, and the scale doesn’t budge. Whereas my husband gains about 10 pounds slowly then loses it within a month as if it were never there in the first place!
It drives me crazy!
yes my husband has a job where he does little movement and i am at home chasing my 3 year old around and going to parks, cleaning the house, making meals, etc. My husband has ADD and on his medication he has lost 10 pounds in a month and i do 10 times more exercise than he does, AND I HAVE ACTUALLY GAINED 5 POUNDS. We eat the same diet.
