Vote in This Week's Poll: Do you exercise more in the summer?
As I watch people out walking, running, riding bikes and just generally soaking up the sun, it does seem like summer brings out the frisky in many of us. I'm curious about your habits. Do you exercise more in the summer or do your habits pretty much stay the same? Or maybe your energy levels drop as the temperature rises. Either way, vote in this week's poll and then leave a comment to tell us about your summer exercise habits.

I know I need to keep up with my exercise, however, it’s a little harder to stay motivated when it is hot. Sweating while doing normal activities sometimes feels like it is exercise enough.
I need to lose wieght fast, apart from dieting which machine is best (crazy fit) or cross trainer? Im almost 59 years old. Please help me
I live in the Rio Grande Valley on the Gulf of Mexico. I do tend to exercise less on our cold days, all 10 or so each ywar!
Marcia, I am also 59 and to stay at 108 lb I walk daily and three times a week I run on the eliptical trainer and lift weights. At our age, you reaally DO need to strength train, both to boost your ability to burn fat and to keep your bones strong.
I love the outdoors and although it’s hot where I live I tend o exercise more in the summer. My walks are much longer and I am able to get out on my bicycle. Indoor exercise is boring to me and I only do what I need to do to maintan my weight.
I live in Florida, and the heat in the summer can be daunting. I tend to move indoors on the treadmill for weekdays during July and August, and limit outdoor activities to weekends when I have more time.
I tend to ride my bike to work most days in the summer, when it’s warmer and gets light outside earlier. So that gets me a lot more exercise.
I exercise more in the warmer weather because up here in the north the snow stops me from doing my walking. I use a mobile walker and the sidewalks are not cleaned enough in the winter months. I walk a lot when the sidewalks are clear.
The heat really drains my energy so I try to work out when it is coolest or hike in a shaded forest.
I work out while I work using a treadmill desk. I leave the office each week about 1-2 lbs lighter without sweating. Best treadmill desk I have found is the TrekDesk. You can google it or visit their website by the same name. Just start walking at a treadmill desk and life takes care of itself.
I try to work out at the same intensity and frequency but during the warmer/humid days I try to do so in the early mornings or evenings when its less severe. In the winter I mainly run on a treadmill due to the cold and snow here in Central NY.
