Stretching at the Office
If you spend any time working at a computer during the day, you know what happens after you've been sitting there for a couple of hours. Your back feels tight, your eyes are dry and you have this burning sensation in your shoulders from all those mouse-clicks.
Your boss may be cracking the whip, but he or she should know that allowing frequent breaks throughout the day can actually increase productivity. After all, what's worse than trying to work when your whole body aches? I'm my own boss, so I'm lucky that I can take breaks whenever I want...and if there's a kitty nearby, burying my face in his warm belly is certainly one way to rejuvenate.
If you don't have that kind of freedom, or a warm, furry pet, the next best thing is stretching at your desk. Stretching tight muscles can keep the blood flowing and work out some of the kinks in your neck, back and shoulders. I have a few favorite stretches for the office you might like and, if you need all seated moves, you can check out these seated stretches.
Do you have any favorite stretches you do at work? Leave a comment and tell us about it!

Isn’t it crazy that we don’t have time anymore? So we have to find ways to exercise while working. I found this company that makes an exercise vest. Has anyone tried to wear one of these while working during the day? Do they work? I am thinking about getting it.

Thanks,

Bob,
My sister bought one of those exercise vests about a year ago, and she swears by it. I went to http://www.hyperwear.com but I got a page cannot be displayed?? Do you have another website? I’m not very computer smart.
Tadaloo!

$150 for a “Hypervest” I don’t think so. Go to Wall Mart and pick up a Gold’s Gym Weighted Vest. I holds up to 25 lbs vs the Hypervest’s 5 lbs. Much better deal.
granted we don’t have ‘time’ anymore but this shows any small changes can be anywhere for healthier bodies. no more excuses. with all the new videos out to promote 10 min of exercise is better then nothing at all, there should be no reason. even doing something between commercial breaks of your favorite tv show. i even take time to do pilates/stretch while watching my favorite showtime series. a good hour of workouts while watching a good program. no more excuses!
Sounds funny, but I always try to stretch in my chair and always walk the stairs instead of taking the lift.

Gary,
For women, the vest with the smaller weight seems to work better. I don’t want this gigantic thing on my back. Where do you see on http://www.hyperwear.com that the price is listed? How much is the one at Wal-mart?
Toodles!
Jennifer
The last time I checked, Wal-mart sold the exercise vest for over $100. I never bought one, but my friend loves it except that his has torn. I get the material was made in the good ole China…you get what you pay for. I’d try the American company instead. http://www.hyperwear.com right?
I’ll let you know if I buy one and how it works out.
