How you feel today is most likely a product of how much you had to eat or drink yesterday and it might be tough to decide whether to workout today or whether to take some time off to recover from the holiday festivities.

If you have the day off, getting back on the exercise wagon may be the right decision, but why not choose something based on how you feel? I'm a little tired today, so instead of a hardcore workout, I'm sticking to a light yoga routine. What about you? Are you ready to burn off some calories or would you rather keep it light and easy today? Whatever your mood, you'll find some workout ideas to get you going:

  • If you feel energetic: Try a high intensity cardio workout - My favorite? Cardio Coach Vol. 6
  • If you have a food hangover and the thought of moving more than 1 or 2 steps per minute is unthinkable, try Morning & Evening Yoga
  • If your brain (and body) won't tolerate much complexity today try one of these basic workouts or go for a short walk
  • If you lifted too much food to the lips last night, replace that food with weights (and, of course, take the lips out of the equation) and build some muscle with strength training
  • If you feel like you need to punish yourself for eating too much, take a moment to rearrange your thinking. You ate what you ate and there's no going back, but you can do something positive to get back on a healthy track today without the punishment. Feed your body good food, take a walk and let bygones be bygones.
