Labor Day is often the symbolic end of summer, thus ushering in thoughts of cold, dark, wintery days that make you want to crawl under your bed and...wait, that is way too depressing. Whatever Labor Day means to you, it is a holiday and, if you have the day off, it's also a great time to exercise. You thought I was going to say it's a great time to sleep late, didn't you?
You can sleep late, but you can also use this free time for a good workout. I've posted a few ideas below, for your exercise pleasure.

Page, You’re right on that- and you know, nothing beats a regular exercise program. Weekend warriors don’t get very far.
So use the labor day weekend to get started on something regular you can enjoy.
I’ve been working out for 4 months in my efforts to lose over 200 pounds and I am just now getting to the point where I am enjoying it. I started out not being able to walk for more than 20 minutes at a snail’s pace and this morning I decided to kick the holiday weekend off right…by walking 5K on the trail where I work out.
Happy Labor Day everyone!
The holiday tips were were good ideas.
Great fitness tips! I personally have been telling my personal training clients to focus on the tough ‘labor’ of being a fit person on this Labor Day. Though it’s hard ‘labor’ it certainly is a labor of love. I also think it’s important that people realize that fitness is a life style not a hobby. Stay fit and love yourself enough to work hard for a healthier future! Happy Labor Day!
These ideas will really help alot of people…. its good to see someone trying to make a difference… We just arent the same people as we were…with all the extra sugars and fats introduced to us daily. I hope everybody sees how much its gonna take to get us where we need to be.
My full routine, which I do every other workout, now takes 90 mins to complete (40 mins upper body weights, 40 mins cardio, 10 mins warmup/stretching and hydrating). I alternate with my cardio workout on the elliptical, which takes 40 mins.
I transposed the two workouts and did the full workout the day before rather than on Labor Day, since I had some things going including doing the barbecue on Labor Day. I recently added some squat exercises using kettle-bells to my strictly cardio days, I get a real kick out of those.
I like Paige’s idea of switching to an alternate routine or doing different exercise routines on holidays, like a special treat.
