As you get ready for your New Year's Eve celebration, if you do that kind of thing, take some time to reflect on what's going to happen tomorrow. What do you really want for yourself in 2013.
We're all eager to get busy, maybe undo some of the damage we might have done over the holidays, but taking a pause can help you figure out what you need to make real, lasting change. To help you with that, my article Resolution Revolution poses some thoughts on how you can figure out what you want and, more important, if you have what you need to get it.
We sometimes we set weight loss goals without realizing what it takes to reach them. We end up chasing after an impossible workout schedule or restrictive diet plan without even realizing it's impossible.
It helps to see the reality before you commit to it. To help you with that, I put together three 30-day programs for three different fitness and weight loss goals:
- What it takes to improve your health
- What it takes to prevent weight gain
- What it takes to lose weight
Each one offers an example of just how much exercise you would need to do to reach these different goals.
All of this is to show one important thing: Your goal doesn't always have to be losing weight. If you can't work at the level you need to lose weight, it's okay to put that aside and pick something that fits more closely with your life. If you're upending your entire life to fit your goals, you don't necessarily need a new life...you may just need new goals.
Tomorrow I'll get down to the resolution nitty gritty with lots of places to start and, as a head's up, one of my new, free programs is available in case you want to take a look before you get started: 4 Week Jumpstart Workout Program. Stay tuned for more ideas in 2013.
Happy New Year!
