Abdominals Workout Center

The Abdominals Workout Center

Whether you want to have ripped abdominals or just strengthen your ab muscles, the abdominals workout center is for you. View ab exercise demonstrations and information on how to perform these abdominal exercises correctly and efficiently.

Abdominals

When most people refer to the abdominals, they are talking about the upper abs, the lower abs and the obliques/love handles. Technically, there are no lower abs, but it is said that certain exercises engage the lower portion of the abs more than the upper region. The function of the abs is spinal flexion and rotation. They are very important for spinal stabilization and much more. For more detailed information on your abdominals, read this feature. Use the drop-down menu below to choose an abdominal exercise with its demonstration and instructions. These demonstrations are animated gifs and should be viewable on practically all platforms and browser versions, but they take awhile to download and are poorer in quality. You can also view these demonstrations in Quicktime format as well as Windows Media Player. Quicktime demonstrations have the best combination of quality and quick download time but may require a plug-in download. Demonstrations with the Windows Media Player have good quality but may pose a problem for Netscape users. They are also high in file size.

Sample Abdominal Workouts

Here are some sample workouts that you can do every other day. If you haven't been doing ab exercises properly and/or efficiently, you probably won't be able to do as much at first. After your abdominals adapt, your muscular endurance will improve where you can do many reps again. I have included alternate exercises as well that can be substituted every once in awhile to change things up a bit. Variety is good. Demonstrations are animated gifs ranging in size of 100 to 250k, so please be patient while they download.
