Top 10 Best Men's Fitness GearAbout.com Health's Disease and Condition content is reviewed by our Medical Review Board
Men need quality gear for great workouts, both indoors and outdoors. Check out these shorts, shirts, footwear and gadgets for the best in fitness and exercise. This gear is great for any sport or activity. 1. 2005 Adidas Supernova Running ShoeI'm partial to Adidas running shoes and the Supernova has gotten great reviews over at Road Runner Sports. I just got the new 2005 cushioned version and it's the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn. The best changes from older versions includes more breathability and a lighter feel.2. New Balance Trail RunnersThis shoe has gotten some great reviews by Runner's World, so if you know someone who likes trail running, this is a great gift. They provide plenty of comfort and shock absorption in the heel and forefoot. The fancy Stability Web® provides mid-foot support while the aggressive outsole gives good traction. Oh and it's water resistant, so plow right through that puddle.3. Patagonia Men's R.5 TopMy husband has one of these, not that he ever gets to use it because I've totally stolen it (and you'll never find it! I hid it near the mop and I KNOW you don't know where that is). But I digress. This is a great choice if you like exercising outside when it's a bit chilly--it's lightweight, breathable and warm. Hide if from your significant other.4. Adidas Fleece Long Sleeve TopThis breathable long-sleeved shirt is great for keeping sweat away while making sure you're warm. It's soft, it looks good and it works for all weather conditions. What more could you ask?5. Adidas ClimaCool Men's Sport WatchThis watch has lots of bells and whistles...and it looks cool. If you're sporty, you might like it because it has the following: digital display, chronograph with 24 hours, count-down timer, dual time zone and 2 daily alarms. Great for active guys keeping track of their workouts.6. Nike Dri-FIT Running Baggy ShortsWhile clothes for women get smaller and smaller, men's fashion trends veer in the opposite direction. These baggy shorts have mesh insets down the sides and are made of light microfiber fabric that feels good and wicks away sweat. These shorts provide great coverage for all your athletic adventures.7. Mens' SlidesIsn't the best part of exercise when you're finished? I agree! What better reward than to slip on these comfortable shoes after a hard workout? These slides look great and have a thick, comfortable sole that will soothe your feet all day long.8. Thorlo Men's Lite Running Mini-Crew SockThorlo makes the best socks in the universe, in my humble opinion, and these mini-crew socks are the best of the best. These little crew socks offer great cushioning without too much bulk and, best of all, they're breathable so your feet aren't quite as stinky. Well worth the money.9. Garmin Portable GPSDo you have the driving need know to your altitude, latitude and longitude at all times? Do you like things that blink, beep and eat batteries like nobody's business? If so, you need a GPS, my friend. I got my husband one of these, which is why I know that I'm at exactly 48 feet above sea level. Fascinating! Garmin makes the best GPS's out there and this one's cool because it has automatic route calculation, outdoor calendar, an electronic compass and a barometric altimeter.10. Poker Table Top GameI realize this has nothing to do with fitness, but my husband has gotten crazy over poker lately and I was thinking of getting him this so he can practice his poker skills. It has a casino-quality playing surface and trays for drinks and poker chips. No chips included.Created: June 21, 2007 Suggested ReadingRelated Guide PicksBest Women's Fitness GearGifts for DadBest Core Strength Equipment Other Related Resources & Guide Picks |
