As a beginning exerciser, you may be confused about where to start. Have no fear because I've put together some resources to get you started:
12 Weeks to Weight Loss
This free program is designed to help you get started with cardio,
strength training, flexibility exercises and healthy eating. Start here if
you want a program already made up for you but keep in mind it isn't one-size
fits all...modify where you need to!
Beginner's Corner
This is the place to start if you've never exercised and have no idea what to
do. It provides step-by-step instructions on what you should do before you
get started, how to
get ready and how to set up a complete exercise program.
Beginner Cardio Workouts
These workouts are for beginners who are able to exercise for up to 15
minutes at a time (although they can be modified if you need to do less).
The workouts include a basic 13-minute walking workout (either outside or on a
treadmill) and a beginner 10-minute cycling workout. These workouts are
great if you haven't exercised in a while and want to ease into cardio
training.
Beginner Strength Training Workouts
No matter what your fitness level, you'll find a workout to fit your needs. Choose one or more of the following workouts to get started:
Total
Body Strength Training for Beginners
This workout requires little to no equipment and is a great way to begin
weight training with little or no experience.
Senior Strength
This total body workout was designed for seniors or for anyone wanted to
work on balance, stability and increasing daily functionality. Equipment
used includes: a chair, a medicine ball (or any other type of ball) and a
resistance band.
Exercise for Obese People
This total body workout is designed for obese people or for anyone who
has trouble moving around. The entire workout is performed while seated
and requires little equipment (paper plates and a resistance band).
Beginner Ab Workout
This ab workout includes some basic abdominal exercises such as
crunches, crossover crunches and modified plank.
