Chest Press with Resistance Tube and Dumbbells

  1. Begin by threading a medium (green) or light (yellow) tube under the step with handles resting on either side.
  2. Choose a medium weight dumbbell and place them on the tube, just under the handles.
  3. Wrap the handles over the dumbbell grips for added stability.
  4. Grab the dumbbells/tubing in each hand, holding them close to the body as you lie down in position, back flat and abs tight
  5. Push the weights straight up over chest and make sure tubing is secure--tubing should run along the inside of arms.
  6. Begin the exercise by bending the elbows and lowering the weights down level with the torso.
  7. Push weights back up, keeping a slight bend in elbows

Tips:

  • Practice this exercise with the tubing before adding dumbbells
  • Choose lighter weights than you usually use for chest press since resistance tube will add intensity
  • Make sure you have a strong grip on both weights and tube.  If you don't feel safe and in control, choose one type of resistance to sue
