WHO WAS THE GREATEST FITNESS INSPIRATION OF THE LAST CENTURY?
Jane Fonda #4 - 13% of votes
She is known as the queen of aerobic videos. Billy Blanks, Cindy Crawford, and others should be thanking Jane from the bottom of their bank accounts. Without her pioneering fitness videos, their huge success may not have been possible. To find Jane Fonda videos, go to the video links section.
Richard Simmons #3 - 14% of votes
This man may be a little zany or off-the-wall with big hair to match, but that just may have been what the doctor ordered. Known for his motivational speeches, many have found the courage to lose weight through Richard Simmons.
Jack Lalane #2 - 22% of votes
He may be old, but he is still a goodie. I recently saw him on the Regis & Kathy Lee show, and he is still making those long swims in the ocean. He is incredible. As probably the oldest candidate, one cannot get Jack Lalane's persona out of the mind when it comes to getting fit back in the "old" days.
Arnold Schwarzenegger #1 - 23% of votes
Who would be better to PUMP you up? Who could inspire Hans & Franz from Saturday Night Live? Only Arnold with his bulging biceps could inspire everyone to pump iron. This candidate was not without controversy. Many people that I spoke to mentioned his previous steroid use while professional bodybuilding and his deep affection for cigars. While I have experienced his affection for cigars firsthand on the set of Junior, I can't see how that would erase millions of people going to the gym. His past and present "shortcomings" cannot wipe out the fact that he has truly been the greatest fitness inspiration of the last century according to this poll and myself.
