If you want to make small, daily changes on the road to fitness and health, this 30-day challenge is for you. This isn't a weight loss program, although you may lose weight during the next 30 days. In fact, you'll have specific instructions not to weigh yourself throughout this entire process. The reason? We want to focus on the journey, not the destination.
The challenges include:
- An Active Challenge - these challenges will require you to be more active throughout the day with a variety of ideas.
- An Exercise Challenge - these challenges offer more structured cardio and strength routines. You'll have many choices for your workout, but always feel free to do your own routine if you like.
- A Flexibility Challenge - these challenges will help you increase your flexibility with stretching, yoga and/or Pilates-type exercises.
- A Nutrition Challenge - these challenges vary and will help you become more aware of your own eating habits (this isn't a diet!)
- A Mind/Body Challenge - here you'll find a number of challenges that help you relax, regroup and enjoy some quiet moments throughout the day.
If you're ready to get started, scroll down to Day 1 to begin your 30-Day Fitness Challenge.
Day 1 of your 30-day Fitness Challenge involves preparing for the challenges ahead. This program isn't about losing weight, although you may find you do just that as you complete the challenges. This program is all about making healthy choices, so you'll spend some time getting ready for the cardio, strength training, nutrition and mind/body challenges ahead.
Day 2 of your 30-Day Fitness Challenge is all about walking more, a 30-minute cardio workout, stretches for your entire body and eating more vegetables with every meal. Your mind/body challenge involves a relaxing one-minute meditation.
Day 3 of your 30-Day Fitness Challenge involves a few parking lot challenges, a simple core workout and some soothing yoga-like stretching exercises. For your nutrition challenge, you'll learn how to focus on what you're eating and you'll also learn how to let go of worry for your mind/body challenge.
Day 4 of your 30-Day Fitness Challenge includes taking lots of stretching breaks throughout the day, a total body strength training workout, great stretches for the hips and chest and some time in your pantry to find healthier substitutes. You'll also complete a 3-minute total body relaxation exercise.
Day 5 of your 30-Day Fitness Challenge includes accumulating more walking time, a moderate cardio workout, stretches for your entire body and some tips on how to eat healthier meals when you eat out. Your mind/body challenge is a 2-minute meditation that should leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
Day 6 of your 30-Day Fitness Challenge includes standing up as much as possible, light cardio and some simple yoga stretches. You'll also spend some time examining your breakfast to figure out if there are any changes you can make for a healthier meal and a one-minute vacation.
Day 7 of your 30-Day Fitness Challenge includes doing a few exercises while you're watching TV, a total body strength workout, a soothing seated stretching routine and being more adventurous with your fruits and veggies. Your mind/body challenge will help you find a way to relax before going to bed tonight.
Day 8 of your 30-Day Fitness Challenge includes getting at least 15 extra minutes of walking in, a simple core workout, basic yoga poses and a focus on eating more fruit with each meal. A 2-minute meditation completes your challenges for the day, leaving your more focused and refreshed.
Day 9 of your 30-Day Fitness Challenge includes a morning and evening yoga workout and a cardio workout that involves focusing on what your body is doing, rather than trying to distract yourself with music or TV. You'll have some simple yoga exercises and then spend some time learning how to do nothing.
Day 10 of your 30-Day Fitness Challenge has you taking more breaks throughout the day, a total body strength workout, a total body stretching routine and some time spent dealing with your cravings. Your mind/body challenge involves a great hand massage, perfect if you spend a lot of time typing.
