Your answers to the quiz, What's Your Fitness Personality, suggest that you're most likely disciplined and reliable. If you exercise, you may have been following the same program for a long time. Once you find something that works, you stick with it and work hard at it. But, you may be too reliant on your workout schedule, to the point where you rarely try new things for fear of seeing negative results or quitting.
Getting out of your comfort zone and testing your limits on occasion may be just what you need to eliminate boredom and avoid burnout.
Best Exercises for Your Personality
As a disciplined, methodical person, you may tend to stick to more regimented routines. But, avoiding new activities or changing your program may be keeping you at a plateau. Breaking out of your comfort zone, even a little, will do wonders for both your mind and body. Just a few ideas:
Workout with a Buddy
You may be used to exercising alone and the idea of having to work your schedule around someone else may make you cringe a little. But, getting out of your plodding routine and working out with someone is a simple way to add a little excitement to your workouts. Try meeting with a friend or family member just once a week for a workout -- you may end up enjoying yourself.
Try Cardio Coach Guided Workouts
If you gravitate towards cardio machines, you may have been doing the same old workout for a long time. Cardio Coach guided workouts offer intense, interval workouts that are perfect for shaking you out of your comfort zone. Start with Volume 1 for a great beginner workout.
Try a Fitness Class
You may shy away from group fitness, but you'd be amazed at how energized you feel when you workout with a group of people. If you're shy, choose a beginner class (most gyms will have a few of those) or any class you feel you could master easily (a basic strength class might be good). You'll feel proud of yourself and you may just find a new activity you enjoy.
Work with a Personal Trainer
If it's tough to force yourself into new activities, let a trainer do it for you. A professional can search out any of your weaknesses and create a program to help you get stronger and break out of the dull routine you've been following.
Try a New Program
If you've been going it alone for awhile, trying a new program may be perfect for you. My 12 Weeks to Weight Loss program is structured, which should appeal to you, but it also includes a variety of cardio and strength training workouts that will work your body in new ways. You could also try my 30-Day Fitness Challenge for daily challenges.
