Definition: Adduction describes the lateral movement of a limb toward the midline of the body, such as an inner thigh leg lift, which brings the leg towards the body, or a lat pulldown, which involves pulling the arms down towards the torso. This is the opposite of abduction, which involves moving the limbs away from the midline of the body.
