Definition: Polyunsaturated fat is a type of fatty acid that can often help lower your blood cholesterol levels, especially if you limit your intake of saturated and trans fat. You can usually find this type of fat in fish, nuts, seeds and plant oils. Watching your fat intake is important if you're trying to lose weight or get healthy, but some fat is necessary to keep the body functioning well.
