Guide Review - Cardio Coach Volume 4
I've said it before...the Cardio Coach CDs make dull, monotonous gym workouts a thing of the past. They're fun, intense and make your workouts fly by and Volume 4 is the best yet. The workout, like previous volumes, is made up of challenges (sprinting or hill climbs) and 'steady states' to allow recovery. This volume is different because the intensity intervals are longer and the recoveries are shorter, so be prepared! After the 5-minute warm up, you begin Challenge 1: a 2-minute sprint, a 2-minute climb and another 2-minute sprint, each with 30 seconds of rest in between. After 3 minutes at steady state comes Challenge 2: 2 climbs for 2 minutes, taking you to a lung-burning level 4, and a final 2-minute sprint, again with 30 second recovery intervals. You get one more steady state before ending with the bonus challenge: A level 3 climb for 3 minutes, 2-minute rest, 45-second all-out sprint, 1-minute rest, 2-minute climb, 2-minute rest and, finally, an all out sprint for 1 minute. Breathe...if you can. Of all Sean's CDs, this is the toughest but his encouragement and the motivating music make the workout fly. His reminders to keep going (e.g. 'you're unstoppable!') always come just when you want to give up, but never interfere with the workout. The music is the best yet with guitars, drums and groovy beats just when you need some extra incentive. If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend any of the Cardio Coach CDs and give Volume 4 an A+!
