The Weight Loss or Exercise Fad I Tried
I have to admit, I've tried so many weight loss fads I could run my own QVC channel from my garage. The most ridiculous was probably the Ab Lounge Chair. It looks sort of like a, well, lounge chair but you sit in it do this jacknife motion, kind of like if you were sitting in a recliner and moved the back up and down. It even looked ridiculous!
What Happened After I Tried It
I almost threw out my back the first time I tried it, but I have to admit, it did work my abs and you can get a pretty decent stretch. You can also use it as a regular chair, which is about what I did after I used it a few times. It didn't seem do anything more than other exercises and it was expensive - almost $100. I actually sold it in a garage sale, so at least I got a little back from that experience.
What I'd Do Differently
- Don't fall for the lies! I'm a sucker for infomercials, even when I know better. Really: Anything that sounds too good to be true really IS.
- Educate yourself. I'm not saying I'm totally off the fad-wagon, but I've spent more time learning about exercise and weight loss at sites like Paige's. I'm slowly learning that there isn't a magic gadget out there and it takes daily work and commitment.
- Turn off the TV. Not only will you save on infomercial crap, you'll probably get more exercise.
