Why I Like Interval Training
I enjoy interval training because it breaks up my workouts into small, manageable parts. Instead of thinking I have to exercise for 45 minutes, I just focus on one interval at a time and the workouts fly by. I've also notice I burn more calories during interval workouts, which has helped me drop a few pounds.
My Favorite Interval Training Workout
My favorite interval workout is on the treadmill:
5 minutes: Warm up
2 minutes: Speed up to work at level 5 or 6
1 minute: Run at a fast pace up to level 8-9
2 minutes: Recover
1 minute: Run slow, but raise incline very high to level 8-9
2 minutes: Recover
Repeat for 45 minutes or as long as I can stand
Tips and Tricks
- Play around with your workouts and create different intervals of different lengths - really makes the workouts more fun
- Try to have one interval workout where you work really hard - say sprinting as fast as you can for 30 seconds and then recovering
- Don't do too much too soon or you'll be miserable
