How much weight I lost
When I went on a diet I weighed 240 lbs I am now down to 180 lbs giving me a weight loss of 60 lbs.
What motivated me to lose weight
My Cholesterol and Triglycerides were out of control, my blood pressure was high. Worst of all my size 42 slacks were getting tight and I was going to have to buy size 44's.
I was going the same path my father went, I remember him as a young man with a 36" waist, now he was wearing size 48 slacks. On top of the problems I was having he is diabetic and using a lift chair.
How I lost weight
I started out by walking and watching what I eat. consuming fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains. Reading the labels of the foods I eat, consuming foods that are low in sodium, low in fat and low in calories.
Soon walking was not enough, I started running. I ran my first 5K and 10K in 2007. In 2008 I ran my first 1/2 marathon and full marathon. I am currently training for my 4th full marathon, The Southern Indiana Classic in April. On February first I signed up for Chicago Marathon, it will be my 5th full marathon and 1st world major.
Tips and Tricks
- I have had people tell me that weight loss is a continual battle. It is not a battle, it is out and out full scale WAR and wars are made up of a series of battles. You win some you lose some. If you step on the scales and the weight is moving up you need to make some adjustments quick before you are completely out of control.
