How much weight I lost

I started out at 192 and at 5'4 that was too much. Now I am at 142 and still headed for 130.

What motivated me to lose weight

I quit smoking in February of this year and I gained 7 pounds in two weeks! I felt so much better without the nicotine that I decided to just start with a low calorie diet and walk the dog every day.

How I lost weight

I went on a healthy, balanced, 2000 calorie diet, it was nothing specific but I paid attention to how my body felt. If a certain food left me feeling bad I reduced it or eliminated it completely. I don't eat anything with HFCS if I can help it or anything "white" complex carbohydrates are much better for me. I walk every day - now at 2 miles. I also do Windsor Pilates 3xweek and Rock Your Body strength-training and cool down 2xweek.

Tips and Tricks

  • The first few weeks of any diet always left me ravenous so I would quit! This time I cut up vegetables and when I would normally cheat or over eat I ate extra vegetables and a little fruit until I was full. It didn't take long to be satisfied with normal portion sizing. I also keep a couple of cooked steaks, chicken breasts, grilled fish or shrimp in the fridge, I find that sometimes suddenly I could eat it raw, so I assume I need protein and keep that on hand. You should customize your diet and exercise routine until you LOVE it. I feel so good now and I know if I could do it anyone can!
