How much weight I lost

As of 11/30/09 I have lost 23.5 lbs. I weigh myself every two weeks and was happy that I lost 2.6 lbs the last two weeks. (Over Thanksgiving weekend!)

What motivated me to lose weight

I was a clothes horse. The fashion designer in me got sick of going to the "big girls" section to shop for clothes, a term I will use loosely as they were all designed by Omar, the tent maker. I have been walking several miles every morning, but that wasn't doing anything to correct my waistline. My cholesterol was up and my double chins were down. Something had to be done! I couldn't stand myself anymore.

How I lost weight

I decided that I had to do something about my physical being. I've tried everything, Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Nutri Systems, etc...I was going to go back to one of them, and then realized that if I went to Jenny Craig I would get angry about spending all that $$ to eat prepared food (I hate it) and to have a $10.00 per hour "counselor" tell me what I had to do to lose weight. I knew what I had do to, I just wasn't doing it. So I decided to wipe the cobwebs off my Wii, and start moving. I cut out all bread, reduced portion size, started drinking more water, and snacked on fruit.

Tips and Tricks

I walk every morning and then come home and get on my Wii. I start with Wii Fit Plus for a little fun "warm up" with their games, then change to Active. I find the easy workouts are short enough (usually around 20 minutes) to not bore me to death, and long enough to show positive changes to my body. My upper body strength has increased a lot. I am able to run laps around the track without slowing down. By the end of the work out I feel like I have accomplished something. I always give some thought about each meal I will eat that day, and if I go out I make sure to plan ahead what I "spend" calories on.
