How much weight I lost
20 pounds
What motivated me to lose weight
I have always been on the chubby side and have been even heavier, weight has always been a constant struggle my whole life. A couple of years ago I found out I carried a genetic disease that increased my chances of developing heart disease by 50%. Even though I was not obese I felt that I was not living healthy enough for my chances. It took me a year before I actually had results because I just tried changing my eating habits and did not introduce a work out plan. I used to work out when I was a teenager, but had stopped when I got older.
How I lost weight
After getting married in 07 I weighted 150lb, I decided to join the gym on top what I thought was healthy eating. I lost 10 pounds but that took a year and then I gained it back, which it probably was muscle but it was not the results I was looking for. I stopped going to the gym since I was not getting the results I wanted. I read in a magazine article that a lot of it starts in your head. It said to eat slower, taste the food you were eating, eat smaller portions and then you can eat more food instead of eating a lot of one thing, and so on. I think the article sunk into my brain, I magically started eating slower which lead to eating less, I did not go exercise crazy I just stayed active and did what was fun. Then I lost 20 lb by eating more often but less at a time, eating plenty of fruits and vegetables, and whole grains. With moderate exercise and staying active weight loss will happen. Now since I lost weight I am working on building lean muscle (I want a six pack!)So I look sculpted and since I have some loose skin muscle will be the only way to fill that in and not look bad or anything. I lost 20 lb in 4 months without crazy food plans, and without crazy work out plans.
Tips and Tricks
My tips and tricks would be:- Think about what you are putting in your mouth. Don’t replace sugar with a substitute because it does not fix your craving, you still will over eat!
- Learn to eat small portions, and then you can more often of different food which will help your craving.
- Eating the daily amount of fruits and vegetables and whole grains, plus drinking 8 glasses of water a day will help your body feel healthier and have fewer cravings.
- Moderate exercise and always staying active is the key.
