Yoga Breakthrough!

I am now starting to see some improvement in my flexibility because of the yoga I've been doing! I'm amazed. Now, mind you, I'm nowhere near being as flexible as the yoga instructor on my DVD, but, wow, some of the poses are coming easier.

I won't even pretend that I know the correct name of the poses, but one I was doing last night was a standing/bending pose. Usually, I can't get my palms flat on the floor; just my fingers. But last night, my palms were smack-down flat on the floor -- much to my surprise! I even bopped my nose this morning doing child pose because the floor came up much sooner than it did before! (big grin) And my heels were much closer to the floor in downward-facing dog position.

One thing the instructor keeps talking about during the poses is: P-A-T-I-E-N-C-E. I really need to listen to this. In my last entry, I talked about how I think I should be doing more. It does get frustrating, because I get urges to work out really hard, to go running, etc. But if I'm to be sensible, I should take this month easy. If I compare how my body felt at the end of September to today, I've made enormous strides. My knees only give me occasional pain; my legs are stronger; I'm more flexible; I've been doing my 20 minute morning energizer ritual -- and looking forward to it even; on the exercise bike, I'm up to 2/3 of my 10 minutes at level 4 and 1/3 at level 5!

Today is a walking day. Right now I'm looking forward to doing it, despite the fact that it's starting to snow and we're expecting 10 cm (about 4 inches)! Yikes! But I've been getting tons of hot flashes -- excuse me, "power surges" -- so I figure the flakes will melt before they can hit me with all this heat I'm generating!

Patience is key. One day at a time, one day at a time...
