Are You Getting Results From Your Workouts?
Thursday April 27, 2006
In a recent poll I asked readers to vote on their most frequent reason for skipping workouts. The results? 31% of voters said they skipped workouts because they weren't seeing results. So, what's the deal? Are most of us really not seeing results or could it be something else?
If you're feeling like you're not seeing the changes you want, it's time to do a little digging to find out why...do you need to change what you're doing or change how you're thinking? I'll help you figure out why you may not be getting the results you want.

I thought I wasn’t seeing a result after losing 7 pounds and stabilizing. Then I realized I had not measured myself. I was happy to see that I had lost several inches on top of the 7 pounds so I had the motivation to continue!
That’s great, Deborah…congrats! Just goes to show that the scale really doesn’t tell the whole story. Good for you!
They say that you shoudl do yoga-pilates abs work 4 non-consecutive days
My gym offers:
pilates-Mo/
Abs class-Tu/
Yoga-We/
Abs class + pilates-Th/
Yoga-Fr/
I like all the classes for different reasons;
Would there be anything bad if my workout only consisted of these 5 Y/P/Abs classes?
Hi, MJ. It really depends on the moves you’re doing in each class. Typically, you could alternate yoga and pilates/abs without any problems, but yoga does involve lots of cores strength for many moves, so you might be aware of that and back off if you find it difficult to complete the moves with good form. Pilates is very core intensive so doing abs and Pilates on the same day may be a bit much for your abs - again, you’ll have to decide what’s best for you and whether you’re overdoing it.
