Vote in This Week's Poll: How are you doing on your New Year's Resolutions?

Tuesday January 23, 2007
According to some people, yesterday was the most depressing day of the year. I don't know if that's true, but this is a tough time of year as the excitement of making New Year's resolutions fades and the reality of actually doing the work sets in.

It's tough setting new fitness and weight loss goals during winter - it's cold, it's snowy and there's not much daylight to be had. It's no wonder so many people fall off the wagon. That begs the question: How are you doing with your resolutions? Are you going strong or are the winter doldrums getting you down? Vote in this week's poll and tell us about it and, if you're still going strong, share your motivation with the rest of us in comments.

Poll: How are you doing on your New Year's resolutions?

1. I'm going strong and feeling good
2. I'm making progress, but not as much as I'd like
3. I started out strong, but now I'm not feeling motivated
4. I already gave up on my resolutions
5. I didn't make any resolutions
6. I'm keeping up with the workouts I've always followed
7. Other - please explain in comments

I’m not one for new years resolutions, however, I did just up and turn my life around two years ago and have never looked back, fitness has become reality for me and goal setting has become a big part of my life. I have never felt better and would never go back to my old self. This website has been instrumental in achieving my goals and staying motivated and now I am attempting to share my knowledge with others and encouraging them to start by setting goals and staying motivated with my own web site. I feel inspired to help as many people as I can to begin the journey to health and fitness.

I started my new fitness and eating plans on Dec. 29th 2006. So far, I’ve lost 5 lbs and 7 inches total on my body. I’m up to 60 min’s on the treadmill and 75 min’s of stability ball and free weights exercising. I do both of them every day. The one day that I didn’t work out I felt guilty so I made up for it the next day and worked out even longer. Just knowing that the sweat I’m producing and soaking my bandanna with is making the el-bees melt off — is my inspiration! My goal is to be 40 lbs. lighter by July. I keep a picture in my minds eye of how my family is going to react when I walk through the door to our family reunion. I’ve always been the “fat child” in our family and I’m making strides in changing that once and for all! Good luck to all of you — as it’s surely a daily struggle, but well worth it in the long run!

i have been exercising on my rowing machine each night for an hour for ages, i have felt the cardio, but the weight wasnt coming off…until 1.5wks ago i went for help through a chemist and a natropath (no pills either), and in that 1.5wks, i have finally lost 2.5kgs..happy as with the results, as i finally feel like the effort i have been putting in is working..i have about 20kg more to lose, and if i keep going at the rate i am, i will have lost it by my best friends 30th bday in middle of may..a small loss has already perked up my belief in myself, and my children will benefit too..so keep at it, and you will get there
