New Review: Maximum Strength by Eric Cressey

Wednesday July 30, 2008
If you're trying to build big muscles, you've probably been following a traditional strength training routine - multiple sets of exercises using medium-heavy loads and lots of hours at the gym. If you're interested in a new type of training or your frustrated with the results you've been getting, Eric Cressey's book, Maximum Strength may offer you something new to try.

If you haven't heard of him, Eric Cressey is a well-known strength coach and powerlifter and something of a god amongst athletes, bodybuilders and weight lifters. His book focuses on powerlifting, but don't let that scare you away. As he says in his book, this type of training (which involves speed lifts, maximal lifts and other techniques) will not only give you a strong body, it will also help you build more muscle.

This book is geared towards men, but I see no reason why interested women shouldn't pick it up as well. It includes 4 phases of training, complete with schedules, programs and detailed instructions for each exercise. You can read more in my review.
