Enjoying Exercise and Healthy Eating
I think that's a question many people have. Why is it that some people can go out to a restaurant and order something healthy while others struggle with temptation? The truth is, once you start eating healthfully, you realize how much better you feel and you know that eating that cheeseburger will leave you feeling tired and bloated. That experience allows you to weigh the pros and cons of what you're about to eat to decide what makes the most sense - do you want instant gratification or do you want a balanced meal that will energize you for the rest of the day?
It takes time to get to that place where you enjoy healthy foods and exercise but, if you stick with it, it will happen. Learn more about enjoying exercise and healthy eating and leave a comment about your experiences. How do you deal with eating out and avoiding temptation?

I, too, am a personal trainer and when I go out with girlfriends I am the one who is uncomfortable. I always study the menu and choose the healthiest option, like grilled meat, ask for dressing on the side, take off half of the bun, ask for dry veggie or toast and replace the fries with fruit. I even was asked “why would you want your toast dry?” I just remind myself how much hard work I put into my health and that if I eat otherwise, I get indigestion and feel sluggish…and that just isn’t worth it.
My personal approach is: As long as I live healthy most of the time, every once in a while having something unhealthy won’t hurt. The important thing to remember is “every once in a while” is not every other day. It’s more “once a week”.
This works great for many of my clients too.
Generally, a healthy lifestyle requires trading in short term “pleasures” for long term satisfaction. and ofte this “pleasures” are actually not that pleasurable, if you look close at them.

Lose Weight Permanently
please..the only reason why one is satified with the healthier option/lifestyle is because they like the results their body has produced, someone who is overweight, not thin would find it such a challenge to change their habits because they feel hopeless
I am 59 years old and made a lifestyle change. I have a food program that promotes healthful eating. Food is not a priority. My priority is my health!
Exercise is 6 days a week. I meet with a personal trainer, lift weights, participate in a cycling class 2 times a week, do Aqua Fitness 3 times a week, and enjoy exercise. I plan my food and exercise times prior to the start of the week. My calendar has the exercises in it.
My work and fun activities are still present. I have time for mind, body, and spirit as well. The blog was very well done!
Alice, don’t feel hopeless. I was 100 pounds overweight and I lost it and have kept it off for over a decade. I help seriously overweight lose weight all the time and it can happen. Frankly, I think the idea of moderation is baloney. If we could moderate, we would not be fat or have been fat!
You can do it - when you are ready
I have been struggeling with finding the right
balance of diet and excercise for a 1 1/2 now and have lost only 10 pounds and very few inches! I have a pretty physical job that requires me to lift 5 to 100 lbs several times over an 8 hour period, mop and sweep a 3000 suare foot store, plus I ride my bike to and from work twice a week and to the grocery store and other errands 1 to 3 times a week plus work out at the gym 1 or 2 days a week and have tried eating as little as 1500 calories a day and as much as 2200 and am rather frustrated at the skimpy results of my efforts! Any advice is welcome.
I always hated eating healthy and working out.Only to find myself very unhappy for no reasons everyday. When I put a little bit of effort in eating healthy and get moving I started feeling Vibrant and Happy more than ever before.

I agree with Vidya about the positive effects that eating healthy can have on your moods. I do feel better about myself but haven’t seen much of the benefits of it anywhere else!
ie; my weight. Does it matter really what you eat as much as how much you eat? Is it better to porportion your grams of fat, carbs and protein like 40% carbs, 30% fat and protein? Or does it really matter? I truely am at a loss about which direction to go next.
Can anyone please help me with some advice?
