New Year's Resolutions - Make This Your Healthiest Year Yet

Thursday January 1, 2009
"Let the perfection commence!" That was the announcement my husband made at midnight this morning as the new year began. My response, of course, was "How can I improve on what is already perfect?" Once he stopped laughing, he mentioned a few of his goals for the new year. Number one on his list? Losing weight.

He's not the only one with that goal, so I've pulled together a few ideas for getting started on your shiny new year. Take some time to think about what you really want for yourself this year and, perhaps more important, celebrate what you achieved last year. We sometimes get so focused on our mistakes, we don't appreciate all the things we do right. Celebrate all that is you and then scroll through some of these resources for making your New Year's resolutions:

Last year I started the habit of carrying my goals with me on a notecard. Not only did I remember them an entire year later, I had met two of the five and am much closer on the other three than I would have expected.

Years prior, I would not even have been able to tell you what I “resolved to do” the year before. Now, I carry them with me and have done better than ever.

I also ask myself frequently two questions- is what I’m doing right now helping me reach my goals, and what did I do today to get closer to my goals?

Good luck!
