This is one of the toughest times of year to exercise. The short January days are cold, snowy and gloomy and it feels like winter is never going to end. Keeping yourself motivated takes a little extra digging sometimes and one way I keep myself going is by trying new workouts. My latest workouts focus on building strength with heavy weights while also incorporating some unilateral moves to improve balance and stability.

The Upper Body Strength Workout includes plenty of traditional moves like bench presses and one-armed rows, but there are a few twists thrown in to make things interesting. The Lower Body Strength Workout is one of the toughest I've come up with and will really challenge your glutes, hips and thighs with new moves like the deadlift lunge and the side squat and leg lift.

You should be an intermediate/advanced exerciser to try these workouts, but you can always modify or check out some of the other workouts I have for different fitness levels:

Do you have a favorite upper body or lower body routine? Leave a comment and tell us about it. We all need new ideas to keep us going!

Those are some great ones! No time like now for a challenge…I definitely need something new/different. I hardly get to do anything outside lately.
