Breakfast, as you've always heard, is the most important meal of the day. It gets the body's metabolism going so it can burn fat more efficiently the rest of the day. It sounds strange, but you need food to burn food. When you wake up in the morning, you haven't eaten anything for 12-14 hours and your body has to work double time to break down stored carbohydrate or turn nutrients into a form yourbody can use to function.

Studies have shown that eating breakfast improves concentration, mood, and memory. Another important point is the those who skip breakfast miss out on important nutrients that they may not get from their other meals. Plus, Skipping meals usually leads to overeating later in the day.



Breakfast Idea:

Fruit-Yogurt Delight (From MasterCook)

8 oz Nonfat vanilla yogurt
1/2 c Canned unsweetened pineapple drained & chilled
1/2 c Canned sliced peaches- drained and chilled
5 Ice cubes
1 Banana peeled cut into 1-inch pieces and frozen
1/4 c Skim milk

In food processor or blender, combine all ingredients; cover and blend on high speed about 1 minute or until smooth. Pour into tall glasses.
