iBlink Stereo Gel EarbudsiBlink

The Bottom Line

iBlink Earbuds are an inexpensive choice for listening to your favorite tunes while you're working out. What makes them stand out from the rest are the integrated LED lights on the earbuds that blink with the music, adding a little dazzle to your workouts. While the sound quality is lacking, the lights are fun and the silicone ear gels fit comfortably, blocking out most external noises.

Guide Review - iBlink Stereo Gel Earbuds

Go to any electronics store and you'll find rack after rack of inexpensive headphones and earbuds. Most of them look alike, sound alike and don't stand out from the crowd. iBlink makes it a point to stand out with its most interesting feature: LED lights on the earbuds and the rechargeable battery unit. The lights, which come in blue, pink or white, blink in time with the music, adding a little zing to traditional headphones.

Stand Out Features

  • Ear Gels: The headphones come with three different sizes of ear gels to choose from, small, medium and large and, with my small ears, I found the smallest size fit fairly well. They did get uncomfortable after wearing them for more than 30 minutes, but people with larger ears may not have that problem.
  • Noise Reduction: Though the earbuds didn't fit me perfectly, the iBlink did do a good job of blocking out most external noises.
  • Shirt Clip: The headphones also come with a clip you can use to secure the battery unit to your clothes, making it more comfortable for exercise.
  • LED Lights: The lights blink to the music, which may be more appealing to the younger crowd, but add a flare to typical ho-hum headphones. The lights might even be useful for nighttime workouts to make you more visible to oncoming traffic.

The main issue I had with these headphones was the sound quality. I noticed a canned, tinny sound when I used them with my iPhone and there was some distortion as well. The site also claims the iBlinks deliver 'Monster Bass,' but I couldn't tell a difference from the other headphones I've used.

Overall, the iBlink headphones are about what you would expect for $20. The sound quality, while not wonderful, is decent, the fit is fine and the blinking lights are fun and even a little mesmerizing. However, if sound quality is important to you, you might want to look elsewhere.
