What I did

Wow. The end result is that my wife gets up at 5:45 5 days a week and exercises for 1 hour before work. She has done this for 2 years now. She looks great and it has been just the medicine she has needed to live with someone like me. She feels guilty if she ever misses a day. Here is how I (she really) did it.

How I did it

I am fairly active myself. I play tennis, jog, lift weights and bike. But I had gained weight through poor eating habits and less aerobic work. I found the only time I could really get my workout in was first thing in the morning. Nothing gets in the way at 5:30 am. Well, she hated getting up in the morning. She would try to do it after work but all of the kid's activities and 'life' would get in the way.

Well, the school where she works put in a new gym and fitness center that is open to the public. Well, that did it for her. You couldn't get any easier than that. So I told her 'If you want to get up in the morning and workout I will make the kid's lunches and get them off to school'. That did it. That morning time is now hers. She loves it. Now she can't sleep past 6am if she wanted too. But she is also asleep by 9:30 pm.

Anyway, she has done fantastic. Now, if you guys really want to help us out, help us out to eat more healthy. This exercise stuff is easy,.... what is really hard is to change the way we eat. Thanks for all of your helpful articles.

Lessons Learned

  • If you lead a busy life, get in the habit of doing your workout in the morning. And, try and lighten the household workload somehow on the non-active spouse to give them some time to fit in the workouts.
