How much weight I lost
130 pounds
What motivated me to lose weight
I was approaching 55 years old and while I was lucky enough to not have major health problems yet (no diabetes, no high blood pressure, etc) I felt overweight, slow and unhealthy. After raising five kids, a career change helped me to see it was finally the perfect time to take care of myself. Somehow I equated taking time for exercise as being selfish. There was always a meal to prepare, or something "more important" to do. It finally dawned on me I may never be around long enough to enjoy the fruits of my labor . . . I want to enjoy my husband, our kids and grandchild. I need to be healthy and active to do that.
How I lost weight
I joined Weight Watchers because I felt I needed the accountability. I knew quite a bit about nutrition, fats, calories, etc., but I lacked the willpower to go it alone. I went from a size 26 down to a 10. I exercise at least 6 days a week and realize it's really OK to spend that time taking care of me!
Tips and Tricks
- Write it down
- Measure the portions
- Stay on top of your hunger by being prepared with healthy snack and meal items.
- The biggest thing I have learned is patience . . . it WILL come off. Some weeks will be tough, some weeks will be easier, but nothing will ever taste as good as thin feels!!
