What motivated me to lose weight
I was overweight all of my life. After years of trying to lose, I finally realized that I needed help. I was tired of staying at home because I could not do the things I wanted to do. I wanted to live my life but could not physically do it.
How I lost weight
I went to the doctor in June of 2009. I weighed in at 376 pounds. I honestly thought I weighed more. The doctor I went to had a plan she followed and asked me if I wanted to try it. I decided to give it a shot. The plan consisted of 5 small, 150 calorie snacks a day. The snacks had to be a certain protein/carb ratio. For every 1 gram of protein I was allowed up to 2 grams of carbs. The snacks were to be eaten every 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Dinner would be "lean and green." This is a lean protein with a green vegetable. The dinner could be up to 800 calories. Topping it off with 40 minutes of exercise a day. I was not sure I could do it. But I decided to go all out. I wanted to change my life. I was not looking for a quick fix. I wanted to get the weight off and keep it off. I am now the smallest I have ever been and it was worth it!
Tips and Tricks
- I learned that with will power, determination, and support, I can do anything. I have learned that no pizza, cheeseburger, or cake is worth the feeling of fitting in size 6 jeans for the first time in my life. I learned that food does not control me. And finally, I have learned to listen to my body.
